October is one of my favorite months because it officially kicks off the holiday season. This October I’ve decided to set some goals for myself in order to keep myself on track and to really enjoy fall! Here are my 8 goals for October 2016:
Attend a fall festival
This year I have tried being more in the moment, October will be no different. I am looking forward to really experience fall, and I can’t wait to attend some sort of fall festival. I haven’t narrowed it down to which one, but in Virginia, there are a ton. Also, I live too close to Busch Gardens to not experience the wonders of Howl-O-Scream this year. All things fall!
Work out 4x a week
I feel like this is always on my list, but this month it’s a must. I don’t like the sluggish way I feel when I skip the gym, so October is going to be the month to really kick into exercise mode. I also have to prepare for the holidays. I am a true foodie and I need to make sure that I’m already working on my fitness before all the holiday treats get the best of me.
Post 2x a week
Being new to the blogosphere, I want to try my best to maintain consistency with this project. So far, I am really enjoying working on Metamorphosis of a Millennial and I want to foster its growth.
Read 3 books
I used to LOVE LOVE LOVE reading. However, law school has really taken a toll on my recreational reading. By the time I read for class, my externship, and complete research for my journal topic, I am no longer interested in picking up a book. BUT that’s a problem. This is an activity I have always loved and I need to get back to it. Books open up a whole new world and I really need to load up my kindle and go for a new adventure.
Cook more at home
I am SUCH a foodie and I LOVE trying new places in search of my new favorite food. That love also comes with a price; usually, when I eat out, I don’t really pay attention to the health aspect of what I consume. This month I plan to be a little more health conscious and budget friendly, so eating at home it is.
Drink more water
When it comes to drinking water, I fail. Just fail. Yes, I know all the benefits to drinking it. And yes, I know how much my body needs it. I just don’t drink it and that’s something that needs to change. Every once in a while I’ll be on a water “kick” and I’ll buy every reusable water bottle I can find with the intention of drinking of all the water that I’m supposed to. That usually lasts around 2ish weeks. October will be the month that I try to improve my water intake.
Stick to a bedtime
Pretty much anyone that knows me knows that I absolutely crave late nights and early mornings. For example, I am writing this at 3:52am. I stay up late and wake up early, and try to fit in a nap during the day. It seems like I am most creative/productive between 11pm and 6am. I even penned a post on finding your time of day. The only thing is, the rest of the world functions on a different time schedule, so I am going to try to find a new “time of day” for me or at least a sleep schedule that really works with this time.
Plan a trip for next year
If I could afford it and had the time, traveling would be a very frequent hobby of mine. So far there are a few family trips planned into July of next year, but I am going to try to plan another adventure or two for 2017.
I’ll check back at the end of the month to see if I’ve met these goals. Do you have any goals that you’ve set for October?
